DESCRIPTION

The BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Economic Research Institute (Ivie) are engaged in a broad-ranging research program with its focus on Spain’s economic growth. One of the program’s building bricks is a set of databases on capital stock in Spain, which are regularly updated, enlarged and methodologically refined.

The long time span of the investment and capital data collected and their breakdown by sector and territorial unit have helped numerous researchers to expand their understanding of Spain’s economic development, and to reappraise previous readings from a variety of standpoints. The BBVA Foundation has also published over thirty monographs exploring the growth sources of Spain and its autonomous communities, structural changes in the Spanish economy, its comparative performance, and emerging challenges in productivity and technological change.
