DESCRIPTION
The way to improve treatment going forward is to identify biological markers of clinical relevance that facilitate the personalized treatment of this type of patient. The team’s goal is to create a non-invasive diagnostic system that gives the exact location of the tumor cells. As leader Morcillo explains, the team has focused on a protein, to which we have an antibody, that is “overexpressed” in the membrane of tumor cells in different types of cancer but not in healthy tissue.
The tool will enable this biomarker to be detected through images obtained using a PET scanner.
