BIO
Giambattista Salinari is a research scientist in demography at the University of Sassari (Sardinia, Italy), where he teaches Statistics and Forecasting Methods. He previously worked at the Department of Statistics of Florence and at the European University Institute of Florence. His research interests include topics like contemporary migration, the analysis of demographic transition and family income dynamics. In recent years his research interests have turned to the analysis of ageing in human populations and to biodemography.
In a recent (2015) publication on demography he proposed a statistical technique to identify the onset of demographic ageing in human cohorts. He has also tackled the problem of statistically testing competing theories on ageing in three research articles (Population 2014; International Journal of Population Studies 2015; Biodemography and Social Biology 2018).
