Marco Breschi is Professor of Economic Science, Statistics and Demography, at the University of Sassari (Italy). Population history is his main research field. He has also worked on contemporary issues: in particular, in the last few years he has studied Italian fertility and health inequalities in the population. His research, conducted at the macro and micro level, focuses on three main themes: a) the complex interplay of family and economic context on individual demographic behaviors; b) the determinants of early childhood mortality; and c) individual and family reactions and adjustments to demographic stress.
