University of GenevaMichel Oris is a professor in the Institute of Demography and Socioeconomics of the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He has been co-director of the Swiss National Centre of Competency in Research “LIVES. Overcoming Vulnerabilities. Life Course Perspectives.” Founder of the Socioeconomics and Demography program at the University of Geneva and a former president of AIDELF (Association Internationale des Démographes de Langue Française) and Société de Démographie Historique, he is currently Secretary General of the European Society of Historical Demography. His research focuses on inequalities, with an emphasis on the health and living conditions of older adults, and on the interactions between individual trajectories and the dynamics of social structures.
