Miguel A. Martínez Beneito is professor in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Valencia. He has a degree in Mathematics and Statistical Sciences and Techniques, as well as a PhD in Mathematics. Much of his research, and his professional career, has been carried out within the field of Public Health, specifically, dedicated to the development of methods for the geographical study of diseases (disease mapping). In this field, he is the author of the book: “Disease mapping: from foundations to multidimensional modelling” published by CRC Press. He is the author of more than 60 JCR articles in which from applied studies, particularly on the geographical study of mortality, to more statistical works. He has been the coordinator of the MEDEA research project, which has integrated 13 research groups nationwide, for the geographical study of mortality in large Spanish cities. From an applied point of view, the coordination of the National Atlas of Mortality in Spain ANDEES also stands out among his works.
