Soledad Núñez Ramos holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Minnesota (United States). She started her professional career in 1987 as an economist at Banco de España and remained there until 2004, except for a period of nine months in 2003 when she was on secondment to the Bank of England. In May 2004 she was appointed Director General of Economic Policy in the Economic Office of the Prime Minister of Spain. From February 2005 to December 2011 she was Director General of the Treasury and Financial Policy. In 2012 she was appointed as an external member of the Target2 Securities Board of the European Central Bank, a position she held until 2015, and from December 2014 to February 2015 was an independent board member at Banco Madrid. She rejoined Banco de España In December 2015 as a Senior Advisor in the Directorate General of Financial Stability, Regulation and Resolution, and since September 2018 has served on both its Governing Council and Executive Commission. In September 2024 she was appointed Deputy Governor of the institution. Additionally, she has been an adjunct professor at Universidad Complutense of Madrid and IE University and has published numerous articles.
