Master’s degree in Biology at Parma University and PhD in Anthropological Sciences at Bologna University. In 2015 he obtained the national scientific qualification for the post of Associate Professor in Demography and Social Statistics. He is currently working at the Spanish National Research Council in Spain on a project (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow – IF) which aims to increase understanding of fertility in Southern Europe. Dr. Mazzoni has collaborated with national and international research groups. He is a co-author of a comparative paper on the importance of SES in the fertility decline in Europe and America. His current research interests include historical demography and demography. Secretary of the Italian Society of Historical Demography (SIDeS) from 2012 to 2018.
