The awards made under this call, to be bestowed annually at national level, recognize originality, innovation and contributions in Statistics and Operations Research, with the dual aim of encouraging research work in SEIO’s focus areas and its transmission to society.

For their paper “A general framework for circular local likelihood regression,” published in the Journal of the American Statistical Association (JASA), which the committee described as “a significant advancement in the field of directional statistics.”
For their paper “On solving large-scale multistage stochastic optimization problems with a new specialized interior-point approach,” published in the European Journal of Operational Research, which the committee described as “an outstanding methodological contribution to the Operations Research field.”
For their paper “Designing experiments for estimating an appropriate outlet size for a silo type problem,” published in Annals of Applied Statistics, which the committee described as “an interesting application of C-optimal design to approximate the maximum likelihood estimator of a linear combination of unknown parameters with minimum variance.”
For their paper “Shapley-Scarf housing markets: Respecting improvement, integer programming, and kidney exchange,” published in Mathematics of Operations Research, which “proposes strong contributions to the optimization and design of allocation rules with a special focus on Kidney Exchange Programs (KEP),” according to the committee.
For their paper “Mathematical optimization modelling for group counterfactual explanations,” published in the European Journal of Operational Research, which the committee described as “an original contribution to the field of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) for classification.”
