The closing volume in the regional studies series developed by the BBVA Foundation in partnership with Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Económicas (Valencian Economic Research Institute). This monographic work looks at the economic performance of Asturias over the more than four decades separating 1955 and 1998.

Its main aims are to provide a global and interrelated vision of how fundamental economic variables have evolved in this extensive period, and examine the relative position of the Asturian economy in the Spanish and European context.
