Atlas of Mortality in Spanish Municipalities and Census Tracts (1984-2004)
Methodology: Data sources > Population data
The Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE) conducts a population Census every 10 years. The Central Statistical Office collects, processes and removes identifiers from the census data, thereby ensuring the quality and confidentiality of the information. The census is the only source of reliable and comparable socioeconomic data with complete coverage of Spain's population at the small-area level. Population data by sex, age group and time-period, for each of the small areas in Spain, came from the censuses of 1991 and 2001 and have been provided by the INE. Population data for the census tracts in each city were obtained from 2001 Census.
